Predictive AI To Reduce Streaming Lag
What if I told you that technology, specifically AI, is rapidly improving day by day, and we are at a point where AI can predict your game movements and choose that input for you. Well, I recently found out that the Google Stadia platform has that technology, and that is a way to deal with the cloud gaming lag or latency issues. Google calls this Negative Latency, and It sounds weird, huh? How can you have a negative delay? Anyways, this technology sounds like it's taking away from the actual player's moments/input, and I started to think about whether that becomes an overreach? As I do more research on this topic, I found out that Google doesn't input the actions for you but rather stages the possible inputs you might choose. That leaves the player to have complete control over their game session. This feature helps reduce lag making the line between cloud gaming and native gaming thin. Overall, it's a step in the right direction. To reduce our e-waste, we have to have the same or better experience as native gaming.
SideBar: Going back to the thought of AI predicting your inputs, a human input, does that concern you?
