Let's Learn About DeepFakes and how it works
The short way to explain deepfakes is a program that allows users to swap the face of someone in a video with someone else's face. To create a convincing deepfake, you need plenty of data (video), two faces that are similar to one another, and, if possible similar lighting. What the complex program does is analyze both videos and map the faces. After that's completed, perform the face swap and hopefully, what you get is a believable deepfake. This is an oversimplification since I don't know the entire process, and I hope next week I will be able to document the whole process.
If done right I should be able to make a believable deepfake. Let's take a look at this deepfake that was used in the Starwars: The Mandalorian:
