As I do more research about diversity in the gaming industry for my research project, I find it eye-opening that studios are prominently white males. I've grown up playing video games my whole life and playing various games. It's hard to believe the team behind the games wasn't nearly as diverse as expected. From the website igda.org as of 2019, the gaming industry is made up of 71% men, 24% women, 3% nonbinary, and 2% selected "prefer to self-describe." I will now dive deeper and find a studio with a much more diverse team and compare it to another studio that isn't so diverse. Then we can see if that has any effect on profitability. More research to come!
